6 Hot Tips for Transitioning to Summer Skincare

Summer’s hotter temperatures means your skin is exposed to sun, sea and chlorine, which can zap moisture, cause irritation or induce breakouts. Making small changes to your skincare routine can help maintain a flawless complexion all season long.

Tip #1 Lighter Moisturizer

You wouldn’t wear your wool socks to the pool, so don’t carry your rich moisturizer into summer. Keep skin hydrated without losing the anti-aging benefits of your face crème with the Overnight Rehab Crème or Green Tea Antioxidant Serum. Mineral Makeup Primer is another excellent choice that can be used by itself or under your makeup.

Tip #2 Exfoliate

Exfoliation is an important step in a skincare routine to help keep skin bright and fresh, but it can be even more important during summer months. You’ll be more likely to perspire, and you’ll want to make sure pores stay clear and clean with regular exfoliation. However, overdoing it can make skin more sensitive to the sun; you can balance this by keeping exfoliation to once a week. Try the Detoxifying Charcoal Facial Polish or Pomegranate Facial Polish.

Tip #3 Add Nutrients

After a long winter, skin typically goes into the warmer months feeling dry, and spending your days outside in the summer exposes you to sun damage and environmental stressors. Restore and protect with a nutrient dense facial serum. The Organic Anti Aging Serum and Green Tea Antioxidant Serum both pack a powerful dose of antioxidants and nutrients with seabuckthorn, rose hip and vitamin E plus a rejuvenating blend of essential oils.

Facial masks also help revive dull skin by drawing out impurities and infusing skin with anti aging plant extracts. Try the Detoxifying Charcoal Facial Mask or Pomegranate Facial Mask.

Tip #4 Protect

Don’t skip SPF! You hear this all year long, but sunscreen is especially important in the summer where days are longer, increasing exposure to ultra violet rays. The

Sunscreen Sport Stick SPF 30 can be used from head to toe and the Tinted Sunscreen Sport Stick works great under your Sheer Minerals makeup. BB Crème offers SPF of 15 and can be worn alone to even out skin tone or as a primer for your powder foundation.

Tip #5 Add Tea Tree

Be proactive with Tea Tree. If you have a tendency toward oily or blemished skin, those conditions can worsen if you’re not proactive. Using a cleanser with tea tree essential oil can stave off flare-ups. We suggest Tea Tree Facial Bar Soap or Tea Tree and Citrus Facial Cleanser.

Bonus Tip: If you’re prone to an occasional pimple but don’t typically have oily or blemished skin, keep your favorite tea tree cleanser on hand to wash the affected area and follow with Green Tea Antioxidant Serum.

Tip # 6 Treat Lips

Hydrate lips often! Don’t forget to keep lips protected if you’re going to be exposed to the sun more often. Keep one of our mouthwatering lip balms, formulated with all natural moisturizing organic oils, in your tote, bag and purse to grab whenever your lips could use a kiss of hydration. A few favorite summer flavors include Passion Punch Organic Lip Balm, Grape Organic Lip Balm for Kids and Dreamsicle Vegan Lip Balm.

Most of us don’t need to change our entire skincare regime with the changing seasons, but making a few small tweaks keeps skin looking fresh and clear all summer long.
