Certified Clinical Aromatherapist, Lea Jacobson provided her essential oil expertise and created many kitchen-tested cleaning recipes for you to use in your own home.
Essential Oil Cleaning Recipes for the Kitchen
Cleansing Spray: Add 30 drops of Sweet Orange, 40 drops of Organic Lemon and 28 drops of Organic Tea Tree to an 8 oz spray bottle. Fill up the rest of the way with water. Shake well before using.
Surface Cleaner: Mix 6 drops Sweet Orange, 3 drops Organic Lemon and 1 drop Organic Tea Tree with 1 ½ cups distilled water and 2 T white vinegar into a spray bottle. Shake well and spray on windows or glass surfaces.
Cleansing Scrub: Mix 10 drops Organic Lemon, 10 drops Sweet Orange and 5 drops Organic Tea Tree with 1 cup Baking Soda and 4 T Hydrogen Peroxide. Use to remove dirt, mold, mildew, stain and other debris from household surfaces in the bathroom and kitchen.
Refresh Home: Add 2 drops Organic Tea Tree and 1 drop of Organic Lemon on the enclosed pad that comes with the Wall Diffuser to fill the room with anti-bacterial and cleansing benefits.
Garbage Can Freshener: Add ½ cup baking soda to the bottom of your garbage can, and shake 10-15 drops of desired essential oil on top before lining with your garbage bag. We recommend Organic Tea Tree for its anti-bacterial properties or Organic Lemon Essential Oil for odor-elimination.
Cleaning Paste: Combine ½ cup baking soda, 2 TBSP hydrogen peroxide and 10 drops of Organic Lemon Essential Oil. Adjust hydrogen peroxide based on the consistency you prefer. This works great on refrigerators, sinks, ovens and more!
Counter Spray: Add 12 drops Peppermint Essential Oil per ounce of hydrogen peroxide or white vinegar and spray surfaces. Shake before using and avoid spritzing with children under age 6 present due to the menthol.
Sponge refresher: add 6 drops each Organic Tea Tree and Organic Lemon essential oils per ounce of liquid soap and add to squeeze bottle. Drizzle ½ teaspoon of this mixture on a rinsed, damp sponge and let sit overnight.
Essential Oil Cleaning Recipes for the Bathroom
Bathroom Spray: Add 40 drops of Organic Lemon Essential Oil, 30 drops of Organic Tea Tree and 30 drops of Peppermint to a 6 oz spray bottle. Fill to the neck with white vinegar or hydrogen peroxide and shake before using.
Cleaning Paste: Combine ½ cup baking soda, 2 TBSP hydrogen peroxide and 10 drops of Organic Lemon Essential Oil. Adjust hydrogen peroxide based on the consistency you prefer. This works great on toilets, showers, sinks and more!
Essential Oil Cleaning Recipes for Laundry
Bleach Alternative: Add 1 ½ cups of hydrogen peroxide, ½ cup of lemon juice, and 12 drops of Organic Lemon Essential Oil to an empty gallon jug and shake before using. This helps with brightening clothes and lifting stains.
Laundry Booster: Make a batch to sprinkle in each load of laundry. Add 4 cups of washing soda to 50 drops of Organic Tea Tree and Organic Lemon essential oils. Use 1-2 TBSP per load of laundry as a boost. Check your User’s Manual for manufacturer’s recommendations.
Dryer Balls: Take a wool dryer ball and add 5-10 drops of Organic Lemon, Organic Geranium or Organic Lavender essential oils. Toss in with your wet laundry in your dryer to reduce static and add your desired scent.
Linen Spray: Add 12 drops of your preferred essential oil per ounce of water or hydrosol. Spritz on freshly cleaned towels or sheets.
