Revolutionary Prebiotic Body Wash

The skin is far and away the largest organ of the human body. What you might not realize about your skin is that it is literally a microbiologic zoo, housing hundreds of different bacteria, many very beneficial and a few which can ruin your appearance or have destructive health consequences.

If you are interested in healthy skin, you must understand that the friendly bacteria living on your skin are not disease causing. They are actually an integral part of you. The truth is that we are a mix of human cells and microorganisms, i.e. friendly bacteria that lives on our skin and provides important health promoting functions.

Unfortunately, living among the large populations of friendly bacteria, there can also be quite diverse and vibrant colonies of unhealthy bacteria. These unhealthy bacteria are different genetically from the friendly bacteria, and the relative strength of the various friendly versus unfriendly bacteria colonies determines the health and appearance of our skin.

Enter Lemongrass Spa Products’ Prebiotic Body Wash, which is an alkaloid-based biostimulant that feeds a wide variety of friendly microorganisms on the skin. Mark Hesseling, Product Development Manager at Lemongrass Spa Products, created a similar product years ago when he was in the environmental sciences industry. He learned how to manipulate bacteria to make it resilient to chemicals. Some of his coworkers used his concoction on their skin and started noticing incredible healing from dryness and skin issues.

Mark said, “This 100% natural, organic, ‘friendly bacteria’ food source causes healthy bacteria to go into a feeding frenzy, resulting in much higher activity levels of normal, friendly bacteria. Over a very short period of time, the healthy bacteria will completely overwhelm any harmful bacteria, virtually eliminating skin disorders of many types.”

Weekly Facial Spa: 7 Steps to Combat Winter Dry Skin

The winter cold and wind can take the glow from your skin, robbing it of moisture, making your face feel tight and look dull, and leaving your lips flaky and peeling. If you’ve ever looked in the mirror and felt like you just can’t seem to apply enough moisturizing crème or you need more blush than you normally apply, you might just need to treat yourself to a facial spa. If you have dry, flaky skin, your makeup and face crème sit on top of that dry layer. Think of it as applying a coat of fresh, new paint to a piece of wood on top of old, dry and peeling paint. The new paint can’t soak into the wood, and the skin works much the same.

Follow the 7 steps below to bring the radiance back to your face:

Step 1: Cleanse. Using your favorite Lemongrass Spa Products’ facial cleansing gel or bar soap, gently cleanse your face and neck. Always include your neck in any facial regime.

Step 2: Steam. Steam helps to lift and separate the dead, rough and flaky areas from your skin and open your pores. Place a warm, wet washcloth on your face and neck. Using a larger cloth like a hand towel allows you to cover the neck as well. You should not experience any discomfort while steaming. Make sure your cloth is not too hot before applying to your face by testing it on a tender portion of your arm like the wrist or inside of the elbow. Let the cloth remain on your face and neck for 5-10 minutes.

Step 3: Exfoliate. Remove the cloth and while your skin is still moist, begin to exfoliate using Microdermabrasion Crème.  Be gentle. It’s easier to judge your pressure when you apply with your fingertips. Work in a circular motion. Your skin is warm and soft and your pores are open from the steam, so it will not take much pressure to exfoliate. Let the product do the work, not the pressure. Be sure to hit the areas where dry skin can build up like the corners of the nose and avoid around the tender eye area. Rinse and pat dry with a soft towel.

Ingredient Spotlight: Jojoba Oil

Pressed from seeds of the scrub Simmondsiachinensis and used for centuries to treat wounds, jojoba [pronounced hoh-hoh-buhoil stars in skincare products due to its numerous benefits. Comprised of fatty acids and fatty alcohols, this golden liquid isn’t oil at all but a liquid wax, and is loaded with vitamin E, vitamin B complex, vitamin C, myristic acid, iodine and the minerals silicon, chromium, copper and zinc.

Revered in folk medicine for its skin healing properties, studies on jojoba oil, as with many natural skincare ingredients, have only recently begun. A preliminary study on the effects of jojoba oil on mild acne, in which participants used a clay and jojoba oil mask, showed an average of 54% acne reduction, and jojoba was found to help speed the closure of wounds according to a 2011 study published in the Journal of Ethnopharmacology. Inflammation can be blamed for skin conditions such as eczema and acne, and a 2005 study concluded jojoba could help reduce inflammation. Results of these studies confirm why natural skincare manufacturers choose to use this ancient oil.

These are just some of the reasons to use jojoba oil:

  • Suitable for all skin types
  • Quick absorbing with no greasy residue
  • Antibacterial & anti-inflammatory for soothing dry, itchy skin
  • Increases hydration to skin
  • Improves skin’s suppleness
  • Fights the signs of aging due to high levels of antioxidants Vitamin E and Vitamin C
  • Calms and heals sunburnt skin
  • Removes buildup on hair follicles which can help reduce dandruff

Reap jojoba oil’s nourishing benefits by trying our now famous seasonal favorites such as Frosted Cranberry Hand & Body Soap, Perfectly Pumpkin Body Polish and Candy Cane Hand & Body Lotion. Or pamper your skin all year long with the #1 selling Healing Elements Balm, chapped skin savior Ultra Hydrating Body Crème and creamy new Men’s Essentials Shaving Crème, just to name a few.
