It’s Creeping Up On Halloween!

Have you seen what is lurking around in the Halloween costume aisle? Beware! The makeup can be FRIGHTENING!! So many are under the impression that simply because a novelty Halloween makeup has made it to the kids costume aisle, it is safe. This is not the case. Many of the commercial face-painting products on the market today contain petroleum-based ingredients (derivatives of what you put in your CAR!) EEEEEK! The bright and heavily pigmented colors contain artificial dyes, lakes and fragrances. Some are labeled “safe”, “non-toxic” or “hypo-allergenic”, yet are loaded with skin allergens such as cobalt, chromium and nickel and even LEAD! It can be very misleading to simply read the front of the package, because when you read the ingredients…BOO!!! HalloweenMakeup.JPG

Fortunately, with Lemongrass Spa, there is a safe alternative. Almost any ghoul or princess is achievable with the versatile Sheer Minerals Makeup! Any of the Sheer Minerals powders can be mixed with water or Healing Elements Balm to glide on effortlessly. Our Black and Brown Natural Eyeliners can be used for outlines, cat eyes, black noses and freckles. The Organic Crème Lipstick in Siren is a perfect blood-red! Add a little sparkle to your favorite mermaid with Azul or Gold Rush Eye Shadow Gold Rush Eye Shadow. The possibilities are as big as your imagination!

In the pictures and instructions below, Mandy and Megan, stars from our very popular, recently released makeup demo video series, demonstrate the versatility and ease of application of Sheer Minerals as Halloween makeup and their results are ADORABLE!

Pantone Fall 2017 Color Report: Welcome to Fall 2017!

Every season, Pantone puts out a list of the 10 most popular colors seen on the runway at New York Fashion Week. You can expect to see these hues prevalent in 2017 fall fashion. Below is a guide to coordinating your Sheer Minerals shades to these gorgeous trending fall colors.

Red/Plum/Pink

fall2017-grenadine.jpg “Power Red” is the biggest trend on track for fall. Get ready to brighten your wardrobe and makeup palette with a true, powerful red. Siren Organic Crème Lipstick and Red Hot Organic Lip Gloss will be your go to lip colors for sipping on your favorite pumpkin spice beverage. For a color comparison see Pantone color Grenadine.

Also topping the trends is a color Pantone calls fall2017-tawnyport.jpgTawny Port, a deep brownish berry tone. For lips, Plum Spice and Sugar Plum Organic Lip Gloss would coordinate well with this warm, mulled wine color. If you wear a blouse in this color, a good combination for the eyes would be a contrasting Ballerina Pink Eye Shadow on the lid with a neutral warm Suede Eye Shadow on the crease.

fall2017-balletslipper.jpg Ballet Slipper is Pantones lone pastel for the season. This delicate blush pink is identical to Sheer Minerals Ballerina Pink Eye Shadow. For a refreshing bit of spring romance in the fall, sweep your eyelids in Ballerina Pink, add a little Sweet Cheeks Blush to the apples of your cheeks and a kiss of Pink Satin Organic Lip Gloss or Princess Pearl Organic Lip Gloss on your lips. If you are wearing a pink sweater or blouse, browns and earth tones coordinate beautifully. Graphite Eye Shadow and Merlot Organic Crème Lipstick would pair nicely with this fall pastel.

When Lemongrass Spa Products opened it’s doors no one would have predicted it would become the successful community of thousands of health minded people it is today. There was no ribbon cutting, no confetti falling from the sky or even any helium balloons when I founded the company on that July day in 2002. On a shoestring budget I made bath crystals, room spray, body polish and a handful of other products in my home and through word of mouth, sold them to neighbors at little gatherings. The Lemongrass Spa Lady became my nickname and with two babies in tow my hectic work-at-home life quickly became even busier! My goal was to book at least two events a week in order to make the car payment, cover the insurance and buy groceries while my husband, Bryan, commuted down to the city of Denver. Little did we know that this little cottage business in Bailey, Colorado would become our livelihood and our family’s venturesome future. As we reflect upon fifteen incredible years, here are some of the company’s milestones.
