Many times when choosing eye shadow colors, we choose what is appealing TO our eyes, but not necessarily ON our eyes. Finding the right colors to make your peepers POP can make all of the difference in putting your best face forward. Follow these color matching tips for eye-catching results!

If Your Eyes are BLUE…

Neutral colors set off blue eyes. Sheer Minerals shades like Sea Shell, Sand Pearl, Dazzle, Ballerina Pink, Matte Mocha and even our Coral Blush are beautiful with your baby blues for a daytime look. Blue-eyed beauties look best when wearing earthy tones, but if you want a brighter look, you can also wear rose-colored or pink shadows like Sassy Pink or our Sweet Cheeks Blush. Deeply pigmented colors like Suede and Amaretto are more dramatic and intense, offsetting lighter colors for a stunning evening eye. Blue is a cool color and warm colors are the best contrast with your eyes. In this case, opposites attract!!

If Your Eyes are GREY…

Like shades and tones actually intensify the rare grey eye. Smokey shades, like Silver Sky, Frosted Taupe and Blue Quartz, for a daytime look compliment and play up grey eyes. A smokey eye technique done in grey and blue shades such as Silver Sky and Smokey Eye are especially alluring and sultry for an evening look. If subtle colors are more your style, stay cool. Ballerina Pink or cool Serenity Blue will be the ICE-ing on the cake for grey-eyed babes.

If Your Eyes are GREEN…

Plums and purples are the green-eyed lady’s best friend. Opposites on the color wheel, nothing will make your eyes look more intensely green than a plum hue. Orchid Frost is your go to color for a sweet subtle daytime sweep across the lids or wet your brush for a beautiful liner. Evenings call for an intense smokey eye with Plum, Orchid Frost and Dazzle. Try our Plum Trio with application card for a quick and easy “how to”. Medium pinks like Sweet Cheeks Blush or brown shadows with a hint of bronze (Amaretto!!) look amazing on green-eyed gals.

If Your Eyes are BROWN…

Lucky brown-eyed girls can pull off just about every shade. Blues, greens, browns and pink shadows are all your friends. Pretty much the entire line of Sheer Minerals Eye Shadow can be in your eye shadow wardrobe. Gold Rush will bring out any golden flecks and give you the eye of the tiger!! To make those warm eyes pop, choose a cool blue like Azul or Serenity. Any of our deeper shades will create a deep sultry eye, while lighter shades make for a subtle natural look. White Diamond on the inside of the lid also is great for brown eyes because it makes them look bigger.

If Your Eyes are HAZEL…

Another lucky Girl! You have it all! You can choose to make any one of the myriad of colors and your eyes take the stage! Three words: Shimmer Shimmer Shimmer.  Amaretto is ideal for hazel eyes. While the bronze will bring out the green in your eyes, the metallic nature of this shadow will bring out your multi-tonal peepers. More subtle metallics like our Rose Shimmer Blush will bring out the flecks of brown. Use Gold Rush to make the gold in your eyes really stand out. If you want to show off the blue in your eyes, then use the Plum or Orchid Frost. Wet your brush and utilize colored liners in a shade to bring out whichever color you want to highlight in your eyes as well.

Intensify any of the eye-color enhancing looks above with Dark Brown or Black Eye Liner Pencil or if you prefer keep your lids au natural, you can always bring out the best in your eyes with an application of Matte Brown or Matte Black Organic Mascara.

Which colors do you use that make your eye color sizzle?
