2014 Year in Review
From opening a second distribution center in Florida to launching the revolutionary Prebiotic Body Wash to being named to the Top 100 Women Owned Companies, 2014 has been an incredible year for growth and opportunity. Here's our 2014 year in review.
The introduction of innovative new products is one of the key elements in engaging our customers and creating excitement for our sales consultants. Roll-on deodorant in Fresh, Sport, Lavender and Unscented were introduced at the beginning of 2014. We launched a revolutionary Prebiotic Body Wash at our annual convention in Denver, Colorado in July. This organic, GMO-free product works on a molecular level by stimulating good microorganisms on the skin and promoting collagen production. Green Concealing Stick corrector, Organic Eye Makeup Remover, Stardust and Red Hot Lip Glosses, and Coral Blush were newcomers to the Sheer Minerals Makeup line. The Men’s Essentials organic skincare line was introduced featuring Shaving Crème, Body Wash, After Shave Lotion and Cleansing Gel, specially formulated for guys. Aromatherapy Mists featuring certified organic essential oil blends were introduced in five blends: Purifying Tea Tree, Lavender Relaxation, Citrus Refresher, Mint Revival and Balancing Act!
We are incredibly grateful to the members of the community in Pine, Colorado who have supported us over the years. Five new employees were hired to help our expansion efforts, and we leased four additional suites in the business plaza. In July we began manufacturing and shipping from our second distribution center in Tarpon Springs, Florida with 10,000 square feet of office and warehouse space. Fourteen full-time team members are currently employed there. With both facilities fully operational, we realized a 2 to 4 day reduction in the turnaround time in shipping orders during the peak volumes: end-of-month and the holiday selling season.
Our presence on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and Pinterest has climbed drastically in 2014, as our attention to social media has become top-shelf priority. We launched a new weekly blog in October that is gaining momentum as in-house authors post articles about Mineral Makeup, Consultant Spotlights, skincare techniques and new product offerings.
Our annual Convention and Awards Night Celebration was held in July at the DoubleTree Hotel in Greenwood Village, Colorado. Consultants from around the country learned from exceptional speakers including our keynote address from Belinda Ellsworth from Step Into Success. Throughout the year, consultants hosted “SpaLaBration” or “SpaLaPaLooza” events in their hometowns. Anywhere from 20 to 150 guests attended these high-energy, open-house style events showcasing our most popular products and our extraordinary business opportunity. In January, CEO & Founder, Heidi Leist; Consultant Relations Manager, Jennifer Dusza and Director of Communications, Angie Conrad, hosted an all-day virtual Leadership Retreat via webinar for our leaders across the country.
Thirty consultants promoted to Director title in 2014 with over $12,000 in special bonuses awarded. Advanced leadership promotions among another twelve directors were celebrated with increased commission checks, promotion bonuses, sterling silver bracelets and keepsake plaques. The compensation plan was enhanced in the spring, which resulted in higher Team Volume commission paid and two new titles: Premier Director and Platinum Director.
Our enhanced Hostess Rewards program was unveiled in July featuring ½ priced Basic, Ultimate and Luxury Face Kits for hostesses who have $500, $800 or $1000 spa parties, respectively. The response to this enhancement has been excellent and has resulted in higher per party sales.
Colorado Biz Magazine named Lemongrass Spa Products, LLC number 61 out of the Top 100 Women Owned Companies in the state. The Direct Selling Association in Washington, D.C. officially welcomed us as bona fide members alongside our good standing in the Direct Selling Women’s Association, of which we’ve been members since 2008. Home Party Rankings listed Lemongrass Spa Products as a Top Trending direct selling company several times throughout the year.
Because of the loyalty of our customers and the efforts of our incredible sales force, we experienced a whopping 65% growth in sales year over year from 2013 along with 68% increase in recruitment. With over 2400 sales consultants across the country, we’ve increased the number of consultants in nearly every state in the US and military stationed overseas. With a focus on rebranding using our new tagline, “Fresh, Clean and Natural”, the popularity of the brand continues to increase.
So with 2015 imminently arriving, where do we go from here? Keep focusing on strengthening our sales force with outstanding training tools and events, creating fresh new organic products and continuing our soaring social media presence. We plan to simplify our new consultant experience and provide exceptional training. Our goal is to exceed the 65% year-over-year growth rate in sales and recruitment through local and regional events, social media campaigns and contests and incentives to reward our field.
